Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a networking protocol designed to synchronize clocks over a computer network. It is used globally to ensure that computer systems are running on the same time. How NTP Works:
NTP operates in a hierarchical manner with multiple layers called 'stratum'. The most accurate clocks, usually atomic or GPS clocks, are at stratum 0. NTP servers at each stratum will communicate with multiple servers in the stratum above, to determine the most accurate time and mitigate errors. They then pass this information to the stratum below.
