Guide to Scrum Increments

Scrum Increments refers to the sum of all the Product Backlog items completed during a Sprint and all previous Sprints. At the end of a sprint, the new Increment must be 'Done,' which means it must be in a usable condition and meets the Scrum Team's definition of 'Done'.

Why it is important:
Increments ensure that a usable version of working product is always available. Whether it needs to be released to stakeholders or not is a business decision. It enables empirical inspection and adaption, vital for Scrum's success.

What it is:
It is the total of all the 'Done' items from the Product Backlog carried out during a Sprint and the previous ones. This is the least that can be deployed or developed on further.

How it works:
An Increment is created each Sprint from the set of Product Backlog Items that were completed during this period. It adds to all previously done Increments.
