Guide to Nexus Framework: Know why it is important, how it works and tips to answer questions correctly in an exam

What is the Nexus Framework?
Nexus is a framework that helps to apply Scrum at scale. It is an exoskeleton of Scrum, which allows multiple Scrum teams to work together on a single product. The Nexus Framework shapes the roles, events, artefacts, and techniques needed to scale Scrum.

Why is it important?
As the demand for software development has grown, so has the need for multiple teams to work together. The Nexus Framework allows multiple Scrum teams to work together in a coherent and coordinated manner, reducing the complexity that comes with scale and enabling the delivery of an integrated 'Done' product every Sprint.

How does it work?
Nexus adds a new layer of roles and events on top of the basic Scrum framework. These focus on managing the interdependencies between the teams and the work. Nexus introduces the Nexus Integration Team, which includes the Scrum Master, Product Owner and one or more representatives from the individual Scrum Teams.

Exam Tips: Answering Questions on Nexus Framework
When answering questions on the Nexus Framework, keep the following things in mind:
1. Understand the interdependencies: Remember that Nexus is all about managing interdependencies. If there is a question about how to manage complex situations, look for answers that mention managing dependencies.

2. Know the Nexus roles: Understand what the Nexus Integration Team is and what role they play. If a question deals with roles and responsibilities, make sure you know who does what within the Nexus.

3. Keep the Scrum basics in mind: Nexus is built on top of Scrum, and many of the concepts remain the same. If you're unsure of an answer, think back to the basic Scrum principles.

Nexus Framework practice test

Nexus Framework is designed for scaling Scrum by defining a workflow for three to nine Scrum Teams working on a single product development initiative. It helps to integrate the work of different teams into a single value stream, with the Nexus Integration Team (NIT) overseeing the process, solving conflicts, and eliminating obstacles. The NIT helps to ensure the generated increments are of a high quality and minimize dependencies.
