Agile Methodology
Agile Methodology is a type of project management process, commonly used for software development, where demands and solutions evolve through the collaborative effort of self-organizing and cross-functional teams. It promotes flexible responses to change. Agile Methodology encourages frequent inspection and adaptation, a leadership philosophy that encourages teamwork, self-organization and accountability, a set of engineering best practices, and a business approach that align customer needs and company goals.
Retrospective Meeting
The Retrospective Meeting is the final event of the Sprint where the team inspects itself and creates a plan for improvements to be enacted during the next Sprint. The purpose of the Sprint Retrospective is to inspect and adapt the team’s methods and teamwork while also inspecting how the last Sprint went with regards to individuals, interactions, processes, tools, and their Definition of Done. Findings are documented as an actionable plan that is implemented in the subsequent Sprint.
Daily Stand-up
The daily stand-up, also known as the daily Scrum, is a short meeting that happens at the start of each day during a sprint. During this time, every team member provides a brief update on their progress and any obstacles they have encountered. The main purpose is to ensure everyone in the team has a clear understanding of what’s happening, so they can help each other and stay aligned with the sprint goal. These meetings are typically time-boxed to 15 minutes to stay focused and efficient.
Scrum Roles
Scrum defines three roles: the Product Owner, the Scrum Master, and the Development Team. The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the product's value and prioritizing the product backlog. The Scrum Master promotes and supports Scrum, helping everyone understand its theory, practices, rules, and values. Finally, the Development Team is a self-organizing group of professionals responsible for delivering potentially releasable product increments at the end of each sprint.
Sprints
Sprints are time-boxed events, usually of two to four weeks, in which specific work is completed and readied for review. It has specific elements, namely Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Development Work, the Sprint Review, and the Sprint Retrospective. Once a Sprint has commenced, its duration is fixed and cannot be shortened or lengthened. The remaining events may end whenever the purpose of the event is achieved, ensuring an adequate amount of time is spent without allowing waste in the process.
