Roles in Scrum
There are three core roles in Scrum: Product Owner, Scrum Master, and the Development team. The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing product value and dictating the backlog priority. The Scrum Master aids the team in understanding and enacting Scrum practices and rules. The Development team is self-organizing, cross-functional, and responsible for delivering potentially shippable increments every sprint.
Lean Principles
Lean manufacturing or Lean production, often simply referred to as 'Lean', is a systematic method for waste minimization within a manufacturing system without sacrificing productivity. Lean principles are derived from the Japanese manufacturing industry. The five key principles include defining value from the standpoint of the end customer, identifying each step in a business process and eliminating steps that do not create value, making the value-creating steps occur in tight sequence, and continuously improving the process.
Agile Values and Principles
The Agile Manifesto and its 12 principles are the foundation of Agile that describe a customer-focused approach to development that prioritizes delivery of value, collaboration, and flexibility. Agile Values include individuals and interactions, working software, customer collaboration, and responding to change, over and above processes and tools, comprehensive documentation, contract negotiation, and following a plan, respectively. The Agile principles give guidance on how to create and respond to changes and deal with uncertainty and turmoil in the project.
Scrum Meetings (Daily Stand-Up)
The Daily Scrum or stand-up meeting is a 15-minute synchronization happening every day during the Sprint. The team will discuss their progress towards the Sprint Goal, possible problems, and solutions. It is not a problem-solving session but a quick update for everyone in the team.
